Lost Sailor is your home-away-from-home! Enjoy walks on the beach with your dog(s), drinks on the wrap-around deck to take in the sunsets over the sound, or hop over to the Dairy Queen across the street. Water recreation opportunities are plenty, via either a short walk to the beach or sound, at Salvo Day Use Area, or at Rodanthe Pier. Skateboards, cornhole, and a kayak for the kids are available for your enjoyment. Kitchen is fully equipped, too! Linens & towels included. Dogs only, please.

The space

Lost Sailor is a traditional Nags Head saltbox style cottage, designed and built with attention to detail. While the common areas are cozy, the bedrooms are spacious and have generous closet space, as well as plenty of space to spread out.

On the ground level, you'll find a bedroom with a king bed and a bathroom with a shower. There's also a small den, equipped with a smart TV and recliners, providing a separate living area from the main floor.

On the main floor, you'll find the kitchen, a small dining area with a large dining table, a living space with a Roku TV, 2 bedrooms, and a bathroom. One bedroom has a queen bed and the other bedroom has a twin/full bunk. A gated deck surrounds the main floor level, offering plenty of space to enjoy sunset views or to read a new book.

On the top floor is the main bedroom suite, complete with a king bed and a bathroom with a jacuzzi tub, as well as a Roku TV for catching up on Netflix or streaming music.

The location is in the heart of the Tri-Villages. We're right across from the Hatteras Island Sail Shop which is convenient if you're interested in taking any classes or renting water sports equipment such as kayaks or SUPs. It's also centrally located on Hwy 12, which provides greater flexibility for choosing a fishing location (Oregon Inlet? The Point? Rodanthe Pier?). It would also be a good central location if you're brave enough to hike the Mountains-to-Sea Trail, which goes along the beach.

While the area does have limited options for dining, the places we do have are excellent (Lisa's Pizzeria, Waves Market & Deli, and Watermen's come to mind). There's a slower pace here, perfect for truly getting away and enjoying the natural beauty of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore!

Additional notes

Given the smaller common areas, even though there are 4 bedrooms, our home is best enjoyed by fewer than 6 adults. We have tried to maximize space as best we can, knowing that many people spend a lot of their days outside enjoying the beach, but please keep this in mind when considering our home for your vacation. :)

House is on quiet, dead-end street with little traffic.

Getting around

There is space for 2-3 cars parked in the driveway. Please do not park on the grass unless necessary.

House Rules

Primary reservation holders will be required to sign a NC Vacation Rental Act Agreement prior to checkin.

Grills are only permitted in the ground floor outdoor space. Please, no candles or other open flames inside.

Pick up all dog waste and discard in the outdoor trash bins. Trash is collected on Tuesday and Friday.

House is on a septic system, so please only discard toilet paper in the toilets and discard cooking oil in the trash.

Occupancy is limited to 8 people due to septic system. Use of the home by more than 8 people will result in immediate cancellation of the reservation.

No more than 3 cars are allowed as parking is not permitted on the street.

Quiet hours are from 10 p.m. until 7 a.m. in order to preserve the quiet nature of the street. Surrounding neighbors are full-time residents.
